I read a book “My Best Friend is a Genius.”
So I would like to write about this book as book review.
In this story, there were two boys. They were so friendly.
Gary is a usual boy. His friend, Miles, is a genius. He is smart and he invents things.
One day, Miles thought he would like to make hyper phone to connect alien.
He believed that aliens are exit and he can talk if he invent hyper phone!
Gary did not think it is enabling but Miles did not listed voices when he wanna make something.
Miles made a hyper phone few days after. They tried to call…but they did not know what number they should call.
But suddenly, the mobile phone rang! Miles pressed the speaker phone button.
A high pitched, squeaky sound came out of the phone. Slowly, the strange sounds turned into words…
“Who are you and where are you from?” the voice said.
“My name is Miles. I am from Earth. This is my friend Gary. We are in Australia on Earth. What planet are you from?” said Miles.
“Planet? I am on Earth.” The voice said.
“You are not an alien??” said Miles but the voice laughed.
Miles looked really disappointed.
At that time, Miles’s mother called Miles and she was angry.
Miles went downstairs.
As Miles left the room, the voice on the phone asked, “You say you are in Australia?”
“Yes,” said Gary.
“But Australia does not exist any more. It became a part of the Oceanic Republic over 100 years ago.”
He was surprised and said “What!? …What year is it?”
The voice said “It is 2156, of course.”
Suddenly, there was another crackle of electricity and phone went dead.
Gary pressed “Last number” button.
But…
“I am sorry, but the number you are trying to reach is unavailable.”
Strange voice said.
It was most strange experience Gary had never had.

I think this story is scary. And I think that I can not put up with these trouble if I was in this situation.(345words)

Hello. I am going to talk about a book “Clever Rabbit and the Lion.”

Once upon a time, in a great big jungle lived a great big lion. He had a great big paws and very sharp claws.
“I am king of the jungle!” He often roared.
“I am going to eat you all up.”
“No!” Many small animals cried.
“Don’t worry,” said clever rabbit. He had a plan.
One day the lion roar “Where are you all animal? You are small and weak so I am going to eat.”
Small animals hid from the lion then the clever rabbit was stand front of the lion and he said “I am here. You can eat me!”
“I tried to come before, but a great big lion stopped me…” he said.
“I am the only lion in this jungle!” lion said.
“Not you. This lion has bigger paws and sharper claws!” rabbit said.
Lion was surprised and he said to rabbit to take him to the lion.
Clever rabbit led lion to the deep, wide river and said “He lives in there.”
Lion looked into the water. Another lion looked back. It was his picture but the lion did not notice.
Lion shoo; his head so other lion did too.
He leaped at the lion in the water…and he was swept away!

All animals pleased lion has gone. Lion called “Help!” but they said “We can not! We are small and weak!!”
Lion let out one last roar…and he was never seen again.

I like the last speech, ”We are small and weak!”
It is funny story and it is easy to read so I did not get tired.
I would like to recommend this book to everyone.

spring BR12 The Hare and the Tortoise

Hi. I would like to talk about the book I read today as a book review. The title of this book is “The Hare and The Tortoise.”
This is famous story all over the world. The story is one of Aesop’s Fables. Nobody knows exactly who Aesop was, but the stories are still popular today, and they are known all around the world.

In this story, there were a hare called Harry. He is fastest around many animals. They respect him and he thought that he should be fastest in the world. He often be boasting to his friend tortoise called Tom. Tom did not think that Harry was not especially good animal. But Harry was proud of himself and he was always laughing at Tom.
One day, Harry held a race and Tom tried to run with Harry. Harry never believes that Tom is going to win. They thought so too and they could not understand why Tom decided to join the race.
Harry did training harder than before but Tom did nothing.
After start the race, Harry ran so fast and many audiences could not see Harry soon. Tom was running so slowly but he did not in haste.
As soon as Harry was out of sight, He stopped beside a tree to rest. After all his early morning training, he was very tired. Nobody was looking. He had plenty of time t sit down for a while. He would still win the race easily.
His eyes started closing. But he thought taking nap would make it even funnier when he won the race.
Meanwhile, Tom Tortoise was slowly making his was along the course. Most of the audiences had gone straight to the finish line. Nobody saw Harry sleeping under the tree.
Hours passed. The sun was setting and the air was cool. Harry woke with a start. He remembered the race! He hadn’t meant to sleep for so long… Anyway he stared running.
He could see the finish line and there were many animals. At that moment he saw a small. Broun shell shape coming up to the line. He ran faster than ever before. But he could not beat Tom…

I think that this story tells us “slow and steady wins the race.”(378words)

spring BR11 MAKING HEADLINES

Hi. Today, I am going to talk about the book “MAKING HEADLINES.”
I knew that headline is the words on the news paper because we took the class about Reading three. We learned about news paper and headlines by Mr.Kamimoto.
In this story, one boy named Magee was warned by teacher,Ms Cramble, because he did not listen her saying. She said to him to work on news paper as his task.
He joined the team making news paper. There are only one girl whose name is Tilly. She is good at everything. One day, they looked a doubtful boy at the corner in the school ground. Brad Biggens sneaking into the office. And he came out with something in his hand. He quickly pushed whatever it was under his shirt, and ran to the gate.
Few days after, they could take some photos about Brad and he was arrested by police.
Tilly and Magee made news paper about the story.
Next Monday, Ms Cramble was holding the newspaper. “Good headline,” she said. She was giving to Magee funny smile.
Magee thought that she is talking about the headline “BRAD TAKES NOTES, POLICE TAKE BRAD.” But then Magee saw she was looking at a different story “CLOCK COLLECTOR NOT SO CUCKOO AFTER ALL.”

I could enjoy reading this story. It is funny for me. And I like the ending with Ms Cramble’s speech. I think headline is important for the story and it sometime appears rhythmic sentence.(246words)

spring BR10 BUZZ SEES THE DIFFERENCE

I want to talk about “BUZZ SEES THE DIFFERENCE.” I read this book as book review.
It was not realistic story.
They are crazy creatures. BUZZ and ZIP are citizen in planet Zero. He went the peace conference at planet Seven.
There were many strange creatures so BUZZ thought they are ugly.
ZIP did not mind that and he thought BUZZ is not quiet and he is not calm.
BUZZ heard that other creatures said that this place is going to explode in few minutes.
BUZZ was surprised and he could not move. After they went away, he went back to ZIP and he said about bomb. But ZIP did not believe him because BUZZ does not have trust. But BUZZ never give up and he stood on the table and he shout for many creatures.
They started to escape. But one creature has not move. He could not see and watch because of headset. BUZZ talked to him but he noticed that the creature is the ugliest one. But he tried to touch his shoulder. The creature took off the headset and they run together.

I could not understand the story well…But I think that BUZZ could talk to strange creature and they could escape. It is good thing.(210words)

spring BR9 The Coat

I am going to show you a book which title is “The Coat.”
This story is not easy for me.
In this story, the boy Mark will move. He heard that his neighbor cried. It was man. Mark listened to mans speaking.
“Where is my coat!?”
His daughter said “I think I put it out for the garbage truck this morning.”
Man was sobbing and he said “It was not just an old coat. The pockets were full of treasure.”
Mark listened to the voice so he thought that he can get the treasures. He started to follow the garbage truck by bicycle. At least, he could find mans coat at the top of the rubbish bag.
He went back to his home and he opened the pockets. He found an old fob watch, a faded photo of a young woman, a locket, bottle tops and a shark’s tooth.
He could not find any dollars or diamonds or emeralds or rubies.
He was not sure what to do with it. Maybe he should take it back to the dump.
But next morning, Mark found the man in his garden. Suddenly Mark knew what to do.
“Hello” said Mark.
“I found your coat.”
The old man looked surprised as he took his coat from Mark.
“How did you get? Where was this coat?” he asked.
Then, he looked at the faded photo.
“You have made an old man very happy,” he said.
“Good!” smiled Mark.

This is not just good story. Mark thought that he could get other’s treasure first.
But finally he could change his mind. It is good story I thought.

Hi. Today, I am going to talk about a book. The name of the book is “Bertha.”
This story is about a family they want to buy new car.
They have a car its name is Bertha. They like the car but it is getting old. So they decided to buy new one.
Father wants to buy black one.
Mother wants to buy yellow one.
Son wants to buy purple one.
And daughter wants to buy pink one.
They tried some car out but they found any complaint on it. They were accustomed to riding Bertha so they could not chose other cars.
Then they abandoned to but new car once.
They restart riding Bertha but it would be getting older and older. And it would be almost broken car. One day, they go travel and they used taxi and plane. On the way to home, son said “We should get new car…” Then, father said “I already bought new car. It is waiting us at home now!” Mother, son and daughter were looking forward to see new car.
Finally they felt happy with new car.
It was “NEW BERTHA.”

I like this story. It is important to take in high-tech things but we should treasure to have warm heart such as this family.

Hi. Today I would like to show you a book. I read “The Inventors’ Club” as a book review.
In this book, there are four kids they are interested in inventor. They built The Inventor’s Club their selves. Chad, Ben, Bianca and Jodie raced from school to Chad’s house for the meeting of the Inventor’s Club. At each meeting, one of the inventors showed all the others an invention they had made. Last Thursday, it was Bianca’s turn to show off her invention. She put on some basketball shoes. Chad, Ben and Jodie watched her. Bianca stood up when she had put on the shoes. “What is so special about your basketball shoes?” laughed Chad. “Just wait and see!” said Bianca. “Just pretend I am playing basketball,” said Bianca. She move as a basket player and she said “I go for the hoop!” Bianca acted out what she was saying. “Then I leap into the air…Goal!!” she shouted. The others could not believe how high Bianca leapt into the air.
She showed the others the springs that were glued to the bottom of them.
“That is a great invention,” said Jodie.
“Let me have a go,” said Ben. “I made them for someone my size. They won’t work on you,” said Bianca. But he grabbed the shoes. It was tight but he could put them on.
He acted like a basketball player just like Bianca, and he yelled “I leap in the air with one second to go!”
Ben went higher and higher. He was heading for the open window. The others ran to the window and looked outside. Ben was hanging on to a tree, high above the ground.
“Help me!” he yelled. The other just laughed and laughed.
“I said you would be too heavy,” Bianca told Ben.
“Just help me get down from here!” Ben yelled.

This story is funny and I leaned that I should not do without agreement.
I like this club and I want to see more invention by them.

spring BR6 SCARY MOVIE

Hi. Today, I am going to talk about a book as a book review. The title of the book is “Scary Movie”

Mr. and Mrs. Smith handed the girls their phone number in case they needed to call. They stayed at home as baby-sitter. Their names are Rebecca and Simone.
Mr. Smith tapped the top of a glass cage on his way out. And he said “Do not worry about Gary, He looks a little scary but he would not hurt a fly.” Mr. and Mrs. Smith then left for dinner. Rebecca asked “Who is Gary?” then Simone walked over to the glass cage and looked inside. But she could not find anything. And she said”I do not know what Mr. Smith was talking about.”
Rebecca put on the DVD which they were given by Mr. and Mrs. Smith for resource. Rebecca reached for the remote control to turn up the sound. Suddenly, she saw three long legs curling up over the couch.
“Argh!” she screamed and jumped back. Simone turned around. Her eyes were as big as basketballs. A huge spider was crawling over the back of the couch. She gasped. Rebecca dropped the remote control. “Do something! Do something!” Simone shouted. Simone tried to breathe slowly and she asked “What are we going to do?” Rebecca whispered “Nothing.”
Suddenly, the spider crawled across the seat, and jumped on top of the remote control. The two girls sat silently while the movie kept playing. The spider did not move an inch.
“I cannot take this any longer. I am going to make a run for it!” whispered Simone. “No, do not!” cried Rebecca.
Suddenly, the door opened. Mr. and Mrs. Smith were back from dinner. Mr. Smith noticed that spider was not in glass cage and he scooped up it in his hands. Then, he gave a kiss to him, and showed him to the girls. “See how friendly Gary is? He would not hurt a fly!” he said.

I think this book is good story. But I cannot put up with big spider on same couch. What do you think?

Hi. Today I am going to recommend a book as a book review.
The title of this book is “The Bully.”
I was studying about bully in Minnesota in the U.S. I am interested in bullying because I had a interest about psychology.
In this story, there are two main characters. Josh is a kind kid and he is in a class which was so great before Martin Mackenzie arrived.
Martin is a transfer student and he is loud, rude and had a bad temper.
On the last day of term, Josh’s friend Harley said to him.” Martin is looking at you.”
Josh was scared and he did not know what to do. He has never done anything to Martin so he has no idea.
After school, Martin talked to Josh “See you on Monday, Josh!” from behind Josh. He could not know what Martin was saying. He turned and saw Martin grinning at him and he asked “What are you talking about?”
Martin said “Did not your mum tell you?” Josh was not told anything from his mum.
But Martin was going to stay with Josh’s house next two weeks.
It is the beginning of bad days for Josh. Martin came to his house and he was so gentleman when Josh’s Mum is there.
But, as soon as she gone, Martin turned mean. There was nothing Josh could do about it.
Josh told his Mum how horrible Martin was to Josh.
He thought that he was comforted by his Mum but she did not. She said “Martin’s dad left, so his mother moved the family every time she found a better job. Martin used to make new friends but they always forgot about him when he moved. I think he is unfriendly from the first, so he won’t be disappointed when he leaves.”
After that, Josh tried to treat Martin as his best friend no matter how he acts. It was Josh’s Mum’s idea. It was hard for Josh but he kept it. At last, Martin stopped bullying Josh. Then Josh knew that Martin is a nice kid.
And they had good news. Martin’s Mum has decided her new job is perfect, so they won’t have to move again.
Finally, they would be a real best friend and Martin could get new friends.

It is good story and I like Josh. He is so kind and he made up Martin nice kid was great. I would like to think why he is so mean, why she is so wicked if I met not good persons.

Hi. Today, I would like to talk about a book” The Riddle of the Camel Race.”
I chose this book because I like the picture.
In this story, there is very cruel sultan. This sultan ruled his kingdom with an iron fist.
It really was an iron fist, because he had lost his one hand in a fight of sword. Everyone in the land did exactly what the sultan has ordered. They were so afraid not to because if they do not exactly what the sultan ordered they must go prison.
For most of the year, the sultan ordered his people to do normal kingdom-type-jobs. For example, the sultan ordered people to do guarding his castle, hunting for his food and clipping his toenails.
But, one day, on the sultan’s birthday, he called two of his subjects, Ali and Baboo.
He said” My challenge for you two is a camel race.” They thought that dose not sound too bad. But he continued,” The winner of the race is the person whose camel comes last! The loser will get five years in prison and a tattoo of me on chest to remind of his failure.”
Ali and Baboo were led to the starting line of the race. They were ready to go, but their movement were so slowly. Neither man wanted to get ahead of the other.
They started to go but they were going so slowly that before long their camels stopped. They did not know what to do.
The kingdom’s wisest person named Shiraz approached the men. She told something to both of them. After that, they leapt on their camel and dug their heels into the animal.
They raced towards the finish line as quickly as they could. Each man was anxious to get to the finish line first.
Those who were watching the race were surprised at what they were seeing.
They approached Shiraz that what she said to them.
She said” I just told each of them to get on the other man’s camel. After all, the winner is the person whose camel comes last.”

It is a funny story and I think Shiraz is clever very well. (362words)

Hi. I am going to talk about the book” Ben Fox Saves the Day.”
Ben Fox is a kind boy so he is at the shop for his mother. He is getting oranges out of a box, when the woman from the shop shouted, “Stop him! Stop the boy!” Ben looked up at the woman and looked down the street. There was a boy running with red bag. The bag is the woman’s. Ben started running to catch the boy. He had some oranges in his arm. The boy did not stop running and he said “you can not catch me!” But Ben had an idea! He rolled the oranges over the street. The boy did not notice the oranges coming. The oranges rolled under his feet and the boy fell over! Finally, Ben could take the red bag!
Ben gave the bag to the woman. And the woman gave him a box which is full by oranges.
It is good story. I think he is so kind. And if you did good things, maybe you can fell happy after that.(181words)

I am going to talk about the book “The Giant’s Causeway.”
It is a story about a giant, Finn, and a giantess, Oonagh, in Ireland and a giant, Benandonner, in Scotland.
Finn and Oonagh were living together in a quiet cave by the sea.
One day, Benandonner shout to Finn that Benandonner is the strongest giant.
But he did not come to fight Finn because he could not swim. So Finn decided that he will make a causeway between Ireland and Scotland.
After the making causeway, Benandonner began to walk on the causeway.
Oonagh found that and she noticed Benandonner is bigger than Finn! And Finn was so tired because he was making causeway for a longtime so he did not have enough stamina. Then, she got an idea! She dressed Finn baby’s cloth.
Benandonner came into Finn’s cave and find him. But he could not find. Oonagh said to him that he should go back or this baby will get up! He came to see the baby but the baby bit Benandonner’s hand strongly. Then, Benandonner thought that if this baby’s father is Finn, Finn is too strong! So Benandonner went back to his island. And after this trouble, he never gave any trouble.
And, Finn picked up some mud and threw it with all his might.
The mud landed with a splash close by Benandonner.
The mud that Finn threw at Benandonner was named the Isle of Man!!

First, I read this book with boring. But after the idea of Oonagh, I think it is funny story.
And I like this ending; the mud was named the Isle of Man.

spring BR1 Everything Is Changing

Today, I am going to talk about the book “Everything Is Changing.”
This story has a main character that is a poor boy.
When he got the 13th birthday, he got three things.
First is a birthday cake that was made by his mother. His family were so poor because his father lost his job about two years ago. So she had to go next door to use the oven because they do not have one in their house.
Second, he was given a notebook by his father. His father said that he will need to use it to keep track of his life.
Third, his father had found a job for him. So he stared working for a man who made houses at 14th May, 1934.

They were in the middle of hard times.
So many people lost their jobs and they could not find new one.
So his father could not get it, too.
Then, he was working hard for his family. And fortunately, he had good boss in his job.
When he started the job, he was retired the school. So he sometimes missed school and his friends. He wanted coming house early and to play with his brother.
His job was so hard and he was always dirty. But he did not mind, because he was learning a lot about how to make all kinds of things.
Almost one year later, he has helped his boss make five sheds, two houses and a garage. And, his father could find new job so he do not have to work all day long.
Now, he can go to the movie with his friends.
His father said that the bad times are coming to an end, and things are getting better and better all the time.

I can enjoy reading this book. This book encourage me well. I want recommend this book for my friends.

I read a book for my book review. The story is very famous. A farmer tugged a big turnip. And his wife helped him. And her son, Jack, helped them. And his dog helped them. And a cat helped them. At last, a bird helped them. The bird pecked the cat's tail. The cat bit the dog's tail. The dog pulled Jack's shirt. Jack helped his mother's skirt. She hugged the farmer. The farmer grabbed the turnip and everybody tugged. Finally, the enormous turnip popped out! And they felt happy! But, they had to eat every morning, every lunch and every diner the turnip. So the farmer decided that he will grow carrots.

It is funny story and I like this story. Because the picture is cute and the ending is unique.(132words:9507words)

This is a story about moral. There are a collection of short stories first told in Ancient Greece around 4000 years ago.In this story, there were a husband and a wife in small cottage. His name was Tom and her name was Elena. They were so poor but they lives with happiness. They did not think that they were not happy. They had everything they needed. They had hens and geese for eggs. They had a garden for vegetables. They had a goat for milk. One morning, Tom found a golden egg. He sold that and he got much money! He bought an expensive dress for Elena. But she wanted him to save the money. But, another morning he found a golden egg, too. And then, they got it a day. They got big house and new clothes. They would be change with their heart. One day, they thought that they could get many golden eggs at once after killing the goose. They did it. But in the goose, there were no golden eggs. And they became poor again. They have never found the golden eggs after that.
I got interested in these short stories. It is so good for children to make moral I think, too. (208words:9375words)

BR9 Sleeping Beauty

Once upon a time, a king and queen lived in a magical castle. They didn't have a baby. They want a baby.One day, a bright green frog jumped on queen's lap. And then, the frog told her that she were going to have a baby this year. And what he said was true. She got a lovely baby girl. The baby was named "Rose".The king hold a feast. Many prince and princess in the land were invited and he asked seven fairies to become Rose's fairy godmothers. The seven fairies said "We have some wishes for Princess Rose". So, first fairy wished that Rose will be the most beautiful girl in the kingdom. The second wished that Rose will be clever enough to beat the king at chess. The third fairy wished that Rose will have grace in all she does. The fourth fairy wished that Rose will have grace in all she does. The fourth fairy wished that she will dance to perfection. The fifth fairy wished that she will play every instrument like an angel, and sixth fairy wished that she'll sing like a nightingale. However, icy air swept through the Great Hall before the seventh fairy wished. Nightshade who is the mean fairy appeared. Nightshade angry with king and Queen because they didn't invite her to the feast. So, Nightshade wished that Rose will pluck her finger on a spinning wheel and die on her sixteenth birthday. And then, Nightshade disappeared. The king and the queen were grieve. However they had a little hope because the seventh fairy didn't wish for Rose yet. So, she wished that Rose would prick her finger, but you wouldn't die and she and everyone in this castle would fell into a deep sleep and only a kiss from her true love will break the spell. And then, the years passed and Rose grew like a girl that the fairies had withed. A dance party was held for her because her 16th birthday drew near. And she found a woman spinning a silky thread. A old woman took her hand and Rose fell to the floor.Everyone in the castle fell a sleep according to the seventh fairy's wish. So, Rose was known as Sleeping Beauty. One day a prince came to the castle and found her. He thought what beautiful girl she was. He kissed her lips, and Rose open her eyes. She fell in love with him.(417 words:6899words)

BR8 Flood!

I have not experienced big flood, so I don’t know how hard it is. I wanted to know that, so I selected this book.
There are five people and one dog in the family. It had been raining and raining for days. At first, there is little paddle outside but a storm came in the middle of the night and the rain beat their house, so they couldn’t sleep. The next day, outside was like a big lake and couldn’t see ground. The school was closed and people were taking some sandbags to their front of the house to keep away getting flooded into the house. Father and mother took a chair and plants upstairs, so children helped them.
The night, flood water came in the downstairs!! Oh no!! The hall was full of water. I thought it’s terrible. Next day, fire officers came to the flooded street and they took a dinghy and helped the family. They went to a hall in the town and there were many people. They ate and drank something hot. I think spending people makes me heave a sigh of relief. After they backed home, the downstairs were all mud but the mother said warm words, “What’s more important than all this mud? We are”.
I like this word because I think what is most important thing is human’s life. We have to protect our body and safe first. I understood that flood is so hard for human beings but it is natural disaster, so it cannot help avoiding. I thought it is important to thinking and preparing some countermeasures against the disasters.

BR7 The Leopard and The Lighthouse

Here is an island in East Africa, which name is Sindi. There are very beautiful beaches, because the sands are white. This island is very very beautiful. The sea is clear and blue. There is an old lighthouse on the rocks by the sea. There is no people in the lighthouse, but sometimes childrenplay in there. One day, a leopard came from Africa to swim. The leopard was very hungry, so he goes to a market place. There is a market place in the village. There were a lot of people in a market place.People are very surprised at appearance of the leopard, children cry and people run about this way and that. Then people run after the leopard to catch and kill. At last people hunt down the leopard, but he entered to the lighthouse and went up to rooftop. People look the sight and think the way to catch. People talk over the matter to the Head of man of Sindi, is called Mohammed. He conceived a bright idea. That is to take place the competition is to kill the leopard. The winner can marry his daughter Tanza. Tanza is very beautiful woman, so many men on sindi are in love with her. Some of the men trieed to catch the leopard, but all of them made frequent errors.
